چکیده

Opposed rotary piston (ORP) engines have high power density and compact designs which meet the requirements of sources hybrid vehicles. Hydrogen applications to ORP can effectively decrease greenhouse gas emissions; however, hydrogen combustion in around stoichiometric ratio generated large quantities nitrogen oxides (NOx), especially for low engine speed conditions. Lean-burn as an effective method NOx emissions was adopted this research. A 3D numerical simulation used explore effect equivalence (≤1) on emission characteristics fuelled with hydrogen. The results indicated that peak in-cylinder pressure increased 1000 revolutions per minute (RPM); value over 0.9 maximum among 2000 RPM scenarios. heat release rates greatly dependent speeds. Start advanced increase ratio; it earliest at During exhaust stroke, free discharge much higher than atmosphere pressure, significantly pumping losses stroke. Accumulated reached given speeds; were almost zero severe lean-burn (<0.7) Engine output decreased drop thermal efficiency speed.

Performance Characteristics of Lean Burn Engine Fuelled with Hydrogen Rich Gas from Plasma Fuel Reformer

In order to analyze the effect of hydrogen rich gas addition (HRG) on lean burn engine’s thermal efficiency and emission, an experimental research was conducted on a gasoline direct injection (GDI) engine using definite fraction of HRG. The results showed that HRG addition could significantly extend the lean operation limit, improve the engine’s lean burn ability, and decrease burn duration. HR...

Knock Behavior of a Lean - Burn , Hydrogen - Enhanced Engine Concept

Experiments to identify the knock trends of lean gasoline-air mixtures, and such mixtures enhanced with hydrogen (H2) and carbon monoxide (CO), were performed on a single-cylinder research engine with boosting capability. The experimental method used to investigate knock trends consisted of determining the octane number (ON) of the primary reference fuel (mixture of isooctane and n-heptane) sup...

Exhaust Emission Analysis of an Internal Combustion Engine Fuelled with Hydrogen-Ethanol Dual Fuel

The work presented in this paper is an attempt to evaluate the exhaust emission characteristics of a hydrogen-ethanol dual fuel combination with different percents of hydrogen substitutions (i.e. 0-80 % by volume and of 20 % increment ) at three different compression ratios of 7:1, 9:1 and 11:1. Experimental investigations have been carried out on a computer interfaced with; four-stroke cycle, ...
